On 25th July 2022, the Department of English, Sikkim Government College, Namchi hosted an event –
Know your Authors: The Muse (Unleashing Creativity), where the chief guest was Namo Dixit, a senior
journalist in Sikkim express. Two significant authors appeared as the resource persons: Dr. Satyadeep
Chettri and Pankaj Giri; they were accompanied by Dr. Rajen Upadhyay and Dr. Saurav Kafley from Nar
Bahadur Bhandari Government College, as special guests.
The event commenced at 11 am with a welcome address by the HOD of the Department of English,
Tshering Namgyal Bhutia, followed by an address by Ms. Diki Bhutia, the dean, and an open mic, where
students from the department showcased their writings. The launch of the latest addition to the
department’s collection of travelogues, ‘Wanderer III’, was done followed by an interactive session with
the chief guest and resource person. The programme ended with its highlight – enactment of
Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Othello’.
