In appraisal to all the ‘Women of the World’, our Education department had coordinated an event for the occasion of “International Women’s Day”, based on the theme “DigitALL: “Innovation and Technology for Gender equality”, which was held in our college auditorium and the host for the event was Miss Nangsay Lepcha of PG Education department, 1st semester.
The event commenced with the welcoming of our guests for the event with our traditional offering of Khadas to our Vice Principal Mam, Dean of affairs, H.O.Ds of Zoology, and Lepcha department. The event was based/positioned on the interaction between the teachers and the students.
The inception of the speech was delivered by Dr. Binita Rai, our former Head of the department, and then Mrs. Sheetal Rai gifted us with a short speech about her own experience as a woman. The interaction was further guided by Dr. Yugal Kishore Khanal, who shared his philosophy about how women were treated or administered during Vedic times. Almost all of us were very inspired/influenced by the way he conveyed his thoughts. One of the students from PG 1st semester, Mr. Bijay Rai, shared his perspective about how he perceives ‘Woman’s Day’.
And at the very end, our Dean of Affairs Dr. Diki Bhutia, shared a very inspiring speech, and most of the students were inspired by her.
The closing of the speech was eventually secured by our H.O.D Mrs. Dawa Lhamu Bhutia, and concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by our Sir Mr. Nabin Manger.
After the end of the event, we all went outside of our college campus, where the stalls were held by students from both PG and UG, where they were selling snacks and handmade crafts.
