Namchi: 17-11-22: The induction program for the newly admitted students at Sikkim Government College, Namchi was held today in the college auditorium in two sessions in the presence of Principal Dr. Deepak Tiwari, Vice Principal Ms. Diki Ongmo Lepcha, Dean Dr. Diki Bhutia and all the teaching staffs of the college.
The morning session started at 10.00 a.m with an introductory address from the Principal of the college Dr. Deepak Tiwari. In his address, he discussed various pertinent issues concerning the growth of students, and the teaching-learning method, and encouraged the students to strive for growth and improvement of their knowledge. He also stressed on the importance of appropriate discipline and dignity in the process of learning. He also raised the issue of students hesitating to participate in extra co-curricular activities and encouraged them to participate proactively in the future. He also highlighted the major achievements of the institution and asserted that the institution has the potential to reach bigger heights in the future and appealed to the students to contribute to it. In the end, he also appreciated the rich alumni of the college who are doing well in various fields in the state and the country.
After the principal’s address, the Vice Principal and Exam Convener Mrs. Diki Ongmu Lepcha acquaint the new students with the various important aspects of the examination system. She appealed to the students on strict adherence to the guidelines of the examination cell and focusing on the proper understanding of the examination process and attendance from the beginning of the course.
Addressing the new students the Dean of students’ affairs, Dr. Diki Bhutia briefed on the various rules and regulations of the college. She mentioned the various disciplinary issues being faced by the college authority because of the indisciplianary conduct on the part of students and warned them of strict disciplinary actions in case of any such indisciplianary actions by the students.
Dr. Tshewang Gyatso, Nodal Officer of the Scholarship Section briefly highlighted the various schemes of scholarships available to the students at the National and State levels and encouraged them to take all the benefits from them. The programme came to conclusion with the introduction of various teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
