Meet Sagar Chettri, a passout student with a degree in Botany Honours and an NCC cadet from SGC Namchi. Sagar’s life took an adventurous turn when he embarked on an unforgettable journey to the picturesque landscapes of Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, from August 10th to September 2nd, 2023. During this period, he underwent an intensive Advanced Mountaineering Course (AMC) that transformed him into a mountaineer par excellence.

Mastering the Art of Climbing and Beyond

The AMC course was a comprehensive training experience that covered a wide array of advanced mountaineering techniques. Sagar learned the intricacies of climbing, rappelling, mastering knots and hitches, rope fixing, river crossing, ice crafting, base making, and crevasse rescue using advanced methods.

Reaching New Heights: Summiting Machoi Peak

One of the highlights of Sagar’s journey was his successful summit of Machoi Peak, a formidable mountain standing at an impressive 5,393 meters (17,694 feet) above sea level. This achievement not only tested his physical prowess but also his determination and mental strength.
