On the 31st of October, 2023, 54 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from SGC Namchi (4 SK BN NCC) came together to observe National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. This special day is celebrated to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a prominent figure in India’s fight for independence and the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
National Unity Day holds great significance as it is dedicated to promoting unity, integrity, and security within the nation. It serves as a reminder of the importance of staying united and working together, even though India is a land of diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. The day encourages all citizens to embrace the spirit of unity while celebrating India’s rich diversity, standing together as one nation.
During the celebration, the NCC cadets took a pledge to uphold the values of unity and integrity that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel strongly advocated. The NCC’s Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Lieutenant Dr. Bikash Sharma, addressed the cadets and emphasized the significance of National Unity Day. He also highlighted the pivotal role that an NCC cadet can play in the process of nation-building by adhering to the NCC’s motto of Unity and Discipline.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often referred to as the “Iron Man of India,” played a vital role in unifying the diverse princely states of India into one nation after gaining independence. His dedication to fostering unity and ensuring the nation’s security is a legacy that continues to inspire generations of Indians.
As we commemorate National Unity Day, let us all remember the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and strive to work together, despite our differences, to build a stronger, more united India. National Unity Day reminds us that our diversity is our strength, and by standing together, we can overcome any challenge that comes our way.
